Acceed: Box PC with Skylake core and MezIO modules

The new industrial Box PC Nuvo-5000, already available from Acceed in the first quarter of this year, stands for a new generation of powerful one-for-all platforms. Based on various 6th generation Intel core processors, the Nuvo-5000 series embedded controllers convince primarily with the variety of their interfaces, including up to 6 with gigabit Ethernet (4 with PoE), 4 x USB 3.0, 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x RS232/485/422, mini PCIe and an SIM card slot. The area of use is attuned to industrial requirements, also via the admissible operation in the extended temperature range from -25 to +70 °C at full CPU load.

The controllers from the new Nuvo-5000 series are power packages and, with their individual selection of performance features (CPU, interfaces, patented expansion cassette, Mezzanine board configured specifically for the end-customer), their versatility can hardly be surpassed. Various i7 Intel processors form the basis (8M cache, 3.4/4.0 GHz, 65W TDP), i5 or i3 from the 6th (Skylake) generation are available. According to the manufacturer, this is the first fanless PC worldwide with a Skylake processor. Its working memory can be extended up to 32 GB, the hard disk capacity up to 1 TB (2.5” SSD with RAID support).

The design of the fanless full metal housing consisting of a resistant aluminium alloy is designed to meet the high requirements in production, automation and laboratories. In addition to stationary applications, operation in vehicles is supported functionally, e.g. with control options via the ignition.

Up to 6 gigabit Ethernet interfaces, of which 4 also offer PoE, ensure maximum bandwidth for data exchange as required for machine vision applications, for example. Up to 8 USB connections of which 4 with USB 3.0 as well as several serial interfaces are available for fast data communication with peripheral devices.

End-customer specific I/O functions can be implemented as good value extensions with optional Mezzanine cards (MezIO modules with serial interfaces or digital I/O interfaces). The patented expansion cassette offers an additional extension option with which optionally a PCI slot or a PCIe slot is provided. All Nuvo-5000 models can also be equipped with mini PCIe cards with an SIM card slot which can be accessed internally or externally. In addition to the common DVI/HDMI and VGA interfaces, a special feature is provided with the universal display ports used for the first time, which support 4K2K resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 pixels.

Power, robustness and the exceptional functional versatility make the new Nuvo-500 series the top choice platform for demanding applications, for example in the areas of automation, manufacturing, processing centres, bottling plants, packaging, production control, logistics, image processing, robot control, monitoring and building automation.
