MEDWEL: embedded fanless system with E3900 processors for medical applications

MEDWEL, a part of the Portwell group, announces the launch of the MEDS-BS200, embedded fanless system featuring Intel Atom processor E3900 product family. Its special and compact design, plus low power consumption make the MEDS-BS200 a perfect solution to support applications for visualization and computing solutions in medical application. The rugged MEDS-BS200 is equipped with the MEDWEL WUX-3455, a 4” form factor embedded board based on Intel Atom processor E3900 series integrating the low power Intel Gen9 graphics engine up to 18 execution units which improves 3D graphics performance and supports faster 4K encode and decode operations. The WUX-3455 motherboard is expected to be equipped with the Atom processor E3900 series, which is designed for Medical and delivers up to seven times faster than the previous generation.

The compact MEDS-BS200 embedded system also features DDR3L SO-DIMM up to 8 GB supporting 1866/1600 MT/s; 6x USB ports; one DP and one HDMI with resolution up to 4096 x 2160; one COM port for RS-232 on rear I/O; and multiple storage with 1 x SATA III port, 1 x Micro-SD 3.0 socket and supports Onboard Emmc 5.0 up to 64G. Moreover, the compact 113(W) x 41(H) x 135(D) mm chassis platform integrates the M.2 interface which provides wireless connectivity such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, making it an ideal medical gateway solution.

The MEDS-BS200 delivers better and faster performance than its predecessors, yet it operates with thermal design power under 6W/10W for fanless applications and also supports a wide voltage of power input from 12 to 19V for rugged applications. Specifically, the MEDS-BS200 further benefits from the top cover/heat sink mechanism that facilitates efficient heat dissipation. The rugged and compact MEDS-BS200 supports a wide operation temperature range from 0 to 60°C for harsh environment operations, while at the same time, its fanless design ensures reliability, silent operation and low maintenance rate and costs.
