MicroSys: industrial communication platforms support TSN and high-speed Ethernet

MicroSys introduces a family of single board computers to address the increasing communication demands in industrial applications. The platforms offer support for the Time Sensitive Networking standard and include a number of high-performance networking interfaces. For example, the carriers have on-board 1x 10Gbit, up to 8 configurable 1GBit, 1x PCIe x4 ports and an 8x 1Gbit TSN interfaces for reliable real-time communication over Ethernet.

Additional I/O includes 2x USB 3.0, 1x SD-Card interface, legacy I/O (UART, GPIO, I2C/SPI) and a JTAG port for debugging. The carrier adheres to the MicroSys MPX-2 miriac System on Module standard supporting NXP’s QorIQ LS1043A/46A/88A and T1042 CPUs. This is an ideal way to create a wide range of flexible/high performance/low power communication applications with compatible SoMs in the same form factor. In addition, ECC memory increases system reliability in those applications which require it.

The MPX-2 module definition is the successor to the proven miriac MPX SoM specification. It offers a cost effective SoM form factor, connecting to a standard edge connector (MXM3.0 socket). Embedded Linux board support packages are available and the MicroSys-owned RTOS OS-9 is currently being ported to the ARMv8 architecture. Other Operating Systems are available on request.

Middleware software components which support CAN, EtherCAT, Profinet, embedded graphic servers, such as XiBase9 and Qt, or a Soft PLC environment compatible with IEC 61131-3 can also be offered as part of the solution. The standard temperature range is 0 to +70°C, however an extended temperature range from -40 to +85°C is also available. The systems are designed for rugged environments where longevity of supply is critical. Our experienced engineering resources guarantee a fast implementation of customer specific solutions. Typical applications are to be found in the automation, avionics, automotive, medical, railways & transportation, construction and defense markets.
